How the assistant works
The conversation on this site is answered by an AI. What it is, what it was given, what it keeps, and what it cannot do.

This page was prepared for Applied AI Systems as a researched starting point and is pending review by the firm's founders. It describes how this website actually works. It is not legal advice.
It is an AI, and it is trying to sell you something
Both halves of that sentence are worth saying plainly. The conversation on this site is answered by a large language model, not by a person typing. And it is not neutral: it is built to understand what your business needs and to steer a good fit toward a conversation with us. That is what it is for.
A person does read it. When a conversation ends, the transcript is emailed to us, which is how a question asked at eleven at night gets a real reply.
What it was given
It answers from one written description of our practice: what we build, how we work, what things cost, and the projects we can talk about. That description is the boundary of what it knows. It has no access to your systems, no access to our client files, and no ability to look anything up on the internet while it answers.
It is instructed never to invent a number and never to claim we have shipped something we have not. It can still be wrong, in the way any such system can be wrong, which is why the terms of use say not to rely on it for a decision that matters.
What it does with what you type
- Your question is sent to Anthropic's API to be answered, together with the description of our practice.
- The question, the answer and how long it took are recorded so we can see what the site is being asked and where it answers badly.
- The conversation is held together by an identifier so that a follow-up question continues the same thread rather than starting over.
- If you give an email address, the conversation reaches us as a lead. If you do not, it is still recorded, and it still reaches us when it closes.
- Your address is used to rate limit the service and is stored only as a one-way hash. See the privacy page.
What it cannot do
- It cannot see your email, your files, your CRM or anything else you own. It is a conversation on a marketing website.
- It cannot make a commitment on our behalf, agree a price, or sign anything.
- It cannot take any action outside the conversation.
- It cannot browse the web or read anything beyond the material it was given.
If you would rather not use it
Nothing on this site requires it. Every destination the assistant can reach is in the header and in the footer, and the contact page is a plain form that goes straight to us. The assistant is a door, never the only one.
