Version
1.0, in the library
  • Claude Code
  • Cursor

A skill that reads your best existing writing, your emails, proposals, posts, the About page, and produces a VOICE.md: the laws, the say and never-say table, the cadence rules, and three example rewrites. Every draft an agent writes for you afterwards reads from it first.

Built, documented, running.

Part of the working library we deploy from on every engagement.

Bring this into a project

Runs on

  • Claude Code
  • Cursor

2 requirements and 3 install steps, below.

  • Complete and documented: the same files we run ourselves.
  • Deployed and tuned to your stack as part of an engagement.

The file

Draft excerpt
---name: brand-voicedescription: Read a company's best writing and produce VOICE.md, the doctrine every draft follows.triggers: extract our voice, write a voice guide, how do we sound--- # Brand voice extractor Read every file in voice-samples/. Do not summarise them. Look for: - sentence length and where it changes- the words that recur, and the words that never appear- how a piece opens, and how it closes- what the writer is willing to say plainly that others hedge Write VOICE.md in five parts: who is talking, the laws, mechanical rules,a say / never say table, and three rewrites of a generic paragraph intothis voice. Every rule must cite the sample it came from.

What is inside

4 items. Includes deployment guide, sample data.

  • skills/brand-voice/SKILL.mdThe extraction: what to read, what to look for, the VOICE.md shape it produces.
  • skills/brand-voice/VOICE.example.mdOur own voice doctrine, the output the skill is aiming at.
  • samples/Twelve pieces of writing from a fictional firm, so you can run the skill before pointing it at your own.
  • GUIDE.mdPicking the twenty pieces that define you, and what to cut from the result.

Who it is for

  • Everything an AI writes for you sounds like an AI wrote it.
  • Two people write for the company and it shows.
  • You are about to hand content to an agent and want the rules written down first.

Requirements

  • Claude Code 2.x or Cursor with skills enabled
  • Twenty or so pieces of writing you are proud of, as text or markdown

Where this sits

  1. This system

    Brand voice extractor

    In the library, running.

  2. Pairs with

    The install call

We wire the doctrine into your writing agents so every draft reads it first.

  3. In your stack

    Deployed on an engagement

The audit finds which system earns its place first; we install and tune it around how you work.

Questions

What if I have not written much?
The guide's floor is a dozen pieces. Below that the skill says so and asks for more rather than inventing a voice.
Is this the same thing your agency uses?
Yes. VOICE.example.md is our own doctrine, produced this way and edited by hand.
Can it write the posts too?
It produces the doctrine. Any writing skill you run afterwards reads it. The install call sets that chain up.
Does it need my data to leave my machine?
It runs inside your own Claude Code session with your own key. Nothing is sent to us.
